Dear Friends of Sanibel Music Festival,

Sanibel Music Festival greatly anticipates the 37th season in March 2024. We begin the season with the return of two Festival favorites who earned rave reviews in our 2020 season. On March 5, it’s Manhattan Chamber Players, the New York-based collective known for their contagious joy of performance, followed on March 9 by National Chopin Piano Competition Winner Avery Gagliano, whose all-Chopin concert in 2020 earned a standing ovation and multiple curtain calls.

The season continues featuring globally praised performers, including the popular Boston Trio featuring violinist Irina Muresanu on March 12, followed by one of the most sought-after performing young ensembles today, the Viano String Quartet on March 16.

On March 19, we are delighted to feature preeminent chamber musicians David Finckel and Wu Han, cello and piano, directors of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, followed by the Opera Theater of Connecticut, back by popular demand on March 23 for the 37th time, singing the hits of Gilbert and Sullivan.

Our long-time venue in Sanibel is still undergoing repairs from Hurricane Ian so we are being warmly welcomed once again by our hosts at Peace Lutheran Church, 15840 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers, which is just a few miles north of the Sanibel Causeway. Peace Lutheran offers easy and accessible parking, expansive seating in the sanctuary and superb acoustics.

We strive to keep ticket prices reasonable, but to do so we depend on the generosity of our patrons as only 40% of our expenses are covered by ticket sales. Donations may be made on our website or mailed to SMF, P.O. Box 1623, Sanibel, FL 33957.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Festival is to present classical music of the highest standard and to promote the careers of emerging artists through performance opportunities at affordable prices.

SANIBEL MUSIC FESTIVAL FACTS

The Sanibel Music Festival was founded in the 1980’s by Marilyn Lauriente, musician and impresario. The Festival has presented such wonderful artists as: The Emerson String Quartet, Olga Kern, Opera Theater of Connecticut, David Finckel, Wu Han, The Juilliard String Quartet, Orion Weiss, Joyce Yang, Jon Nakamatsu, Ruth Laredo, the American String Quartet, the Pacifica Quartet, and the Prazak Quartet.

The Festival presents a concert series each season, featuring chamber music, piano, and vocal ensemble, as well as outreach and education programs.

2024 concerts will be performed at Peace Lutheran Church, 15840 McGregor in Ft Myers, Florida 33908 at 7:30 pm until the festival’s home venue on Sanibel Island recovers from Hurricane Ian.
